PhotoMonday

Fotopondelok/PhotoMonday was established in 2016 as a program of the Slovak National Gallery, prepared by Veronika Marek Markovičová and Peter Marek. Once a month at the SNG and occasionally at the M. A. Bazovský Gallery in Trenčín, a live meeting took place between a photography-loving audience and renowned authors from Slovakia and abroad. Over the years, more than 100 authors have presented their work at the event. In May 2025, thanks to cooperation with KKC Hviezda and support from Trenčín 2026, the program moved to Trenčín.
On November 3 at 6 p.m. at KKC Hviezda, with the support of the Polish Institute in Bratislava, we will introduce two guests – Agnieszka Rayss and Michal Łuczak, members of the SPUTNIK PHOTOS collective. During Fotopondelok, an accompanying event of the 16th OFF Bratislava festival, they will present their current projects.
Agnieszka Rayss (1970) is a photographer and freelancer based in Warsaw. She co-founded the Sputnik Photos collective. She focuses on documentary photography. She studied art history at Jagiellonian University and is a PhD student at the University of Arts in Poznań. She is interested in the post-Soviet heritage of Central and Eastern Europe and topics related to its myths, history, and reinterpretation. She is a two-time winner of the Picture of the Year award in 2011 and 2012, as well as the recipient of other awards. Her work has been published in magazines such as Newsweek, The Guardian, and others.
Michal Łuczak (1983) works as a photographer, visual artist, and curator. He is a graduate of ITF in Opava and Hispanic Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Since 2010, he has been a member of the Sputnik Photos association. He co-runs a year-round documentary photography workshop called the Sputnik Photos Mentoring Programme and teaches at the Faculty of Arts at the Pedagogical University in Krakow. He focuses on the complex and mercenary relationships between people, their immediate surroundings, and the natural environment. He is the author of several photographic publications, including Brutal (2012) and 11.41 (together with Filip Springer, 2016). He is the recipient of the Magnum Expression Award and other awards.
The event will be streamed live and recorded.
