Acclaimed poet Mila Haugová, together with composers and producers Robert Pospiš and Martin Sillay, embarked this summer on a tour accompanying the album Srna pozerajúca na Polárku (A Doe Gazing at the North Star). Their joint work was performed live in its complete form for the first time over the course of this summer, and the artists plan to continue presenting concerts based on this album in the future. Coming up as well during the opening weekend of the European Capital of Culture 2026 in Trenčín.
First, the guitar is heard, then the piano and vocals join in. With a certain intensity, the poet’s spoken word enters the musical space, at which point the listener completely forgets any prior expectations. This is how the opening track Všetko sa začína chvením (Everything Begins with a Tremble) unfolds. “It’s like a chemical compound, where something new emerges from the given elements,” says Mila Haugová, the central performer and co-author, about the album Srna pozerajúca na Polárku.
The extraordinarily intimate experience created by the union of word and music is powerfully carried over from the album into live performances. The compositions are enriched by reflections on poetry, love, relationships, and encounters that together shape Mila Haugová’s creative universe. Audiences can thus expect a unique evening in which the worlds of music, poetry, and spoken word meet organically.
“At concerts with Mila, the adventurous journey through the world of a woman who speaks about what truly matters continues. With a naturalness that can strike with exceptional intensity,” adds Robert Pospiš, who, together with Martin Sillay, is responsible for the musical and sonic form of the project.
The album Srna pozerajúca na Polárku was released in 2024 by Real Music House, in co-production with the publishing house Ars Poetica. In addition to the core trio, its creation involved Martin Solotruk as the author of the poetic concept, as well as musicians Roman Harvan and Juraj Šušaník.
