Billy Barman & Dievčatá zo SĽUK-u bring a remarkable musical collaboration in which contemporary alternative music meets the richness of Slovak folklore. The Bratislava-based band Billy Barman was formed in 2008 around Juraj Podmanický and Jozef Vrábel and has gradually become one of the most prominent names on the Slovak music scene. Known for its distinctive sound, inventive Slovak lyrics and energetic live performances, the band has received seven Radio_Head Awards.
Its music moves between indie rock, pop and electronica, while also embracing experimentation with traditional musical motifs. The collaboration with the female vocal group of the Slovak Folk Art Ensemble (SĽUK) gave the band’s well-known songs a new dimension and led to a successful concert project as well as the live album Potichu.
Striking polyphonic vocals, folk melodies and original arrangements create a unique atmosphere in which two musical worlds come together naturally. The concert will feature popular Billy Barman songs in unconventional arrangements as well as pieces inspired by Slovak musical tradition.
