Younák
Younák is an original contemporary circus performance that blends, with humor, the power of physical theatre, acrobatics, live folklore, and music into one pulsating whole. It draws inspiration from legends of the iconic outlaw of the Slovak mountains, yet it does not offer a traditional retelling of his story. Instead, it presents a timeless perspective on the myth of freedom and justice.
The performance brings together old and new—tradition with the contemporary. Folk songs and dances come alive in modern arrangements, while the acrobatic feats push the limits of physical ability. However, it is not only about acrobatics, but also about physical theatre and a visual-musical celebration of our roots, free of pathos and clichés. At the same time, it is transported into the present with playfulness, perspective, and a great deal of energy, ambitiously aiming to evoke strong emotions in the audience—from laughter to tears.
The show appeals to a wide audience, from lovers of folklore to fans of contemporary circus. It offers a unique artistic experience full of emotion, symbolism, and circus skill.
