Roma Dance and Singing Workshop with O Gadže Bašaven & Concert by Hobluj! (CZ)
Come and celebrate the closing of the European Capital of Culture year with music, singing and dance! The evening Bašavel will bring spirited rhythms, vibrant energy and the joy of coming together. You can look forward to an interactive Roma dance and singing workshop with O Gadže Bašaven, followed by a concert by the Czech band Hobluj!
O Gadže Bašaven, meaning “non-Roma are playing”, is a musical ensemble united by a passion for Roma music and culture. The group brings traditional Roma songs and czardas to life with the energy of a new generation and uses music to help break down stereotypes. The dance part of the workshop will be led by Libuša Čižmárik Bachratá, a dancer, choreographer and teacher specialising in both traditional and modern Roma dance. The singing part will be led by Júlia Kozáková, a performer of Roma music and winner of a Radio_Head Award for her album Manuša. Live musical accompaniment will be provided by musicians from O Gadže Bašaven. No previous experience in dance or singing is required – all you need is the desire to join in!
The workshop will be followed by a concert by the Czech band Hobluj!, which combines Slovak, Moravian and Roma folk music in its own arrangements. Their energetic performance, full of driving rhythms and melodies, will invite you onto the dance floor and keep the evening going in the spirit of lively musical entertainment.
Come and sing, dance and enjoy one of the final evenings of Trenčín’s unforgettable year as European Capital of Culture!
