túr’s Voice “Comes to Life” in Podcast Form in His Birthplace
The Regional Tourism Organization Trenčín Region (KOCR Trenčín Region) is preparing an exceptional event titled By Štúr’s Voice, created with the support of the Europe for the Region (Trenčín 2026) grant program.
The aim of the project is to bring the personality and legacy of Ľudovít Štúr closer to the public – especially to younger generations – through a series of educational podcast episodes. Using a modern and accessible language, the podcast will explore who Ľudovít Štúr was, the importance of his work for the Slovak nation, and why his ideas can still inspire today.
Recording in an Authentic Setting
A unique aspect of the project is that the podcast will be recorded live in the Birth House of Ľudovít Štúr and Alexander Dubček in Uhrovec – the very place where the story of one of the most important figures in Slovak history began.
Who was Ľudovít Štúr? What did his efforts for the Slovak language and identity mean? And why is his voice still worth listening to today? These are the questions that the podcast’s guests will explore, connecting history with the contemporary perspective of young people.
Podcast Guests
-
prof. PhDr. Pavol Žigo, CSc. – Researcher at the Ľudovít Štúr Institute of Linguistics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Department of Dialectology
-
Mgr. Dominik Zužo – Curator and historian, Slovak National Museum – Ľudovít Štúr Museum
-
Matúš Mahút – Influencer and content creator popularizing history and Slovak culture
Together, they will offer three perspectives – scientific, historical, and modern – united in one podcast to show that history doesn’t have to be boring.
The podcast By Štúr’s Voice is being produced to mark the 210th anniversary of Ľudovít Štúr’s birth, which Slovakia will commemorate in 2025 – declared the Year of Ľudovít Štúr.
The project aims not only to educate but also to inspire – to show that Štúr’s message of identity, courage, and responsibility can still resonate with a generation raised in the digital age.
Public Participation
The event will take place on November 5, 2025, in the afternoon, and the public is welcome to attend in person.
However, as the venue’s capacity is limited, advance registration is required via email at: info@trencinregion.sk
