The event Korzo Soblahovská became the first public presentation of the emerging project LUMó – Laboratory of Sustainable Fashion. It was here that we symbolically took our first step directly in the region. We began a dialogue with the residents of Trenčín about what the future of fashion might look like – sustainable, local, and open to collaboration.
We created a space for visitors to talk, remember, and be curious. We were interested in their views on current fashion in the city, personal and family memories of the textile tradition, and their ideas about what they would like to experience in fashion in the future. These stories, memories, and valuable tips about local creators will be an important foundation for the further direction of LUMó.
One of the elements of our booth was the Map of Future Connections, where people could leave their messages, wishes, or suggestions. To each participant, we symbolically gave a packet of flax seeds – as a metaphor for sowing cooperation and growing together.
Part of the event also included a mini-survey, the results of which showed that:
-
65% of respondents have someone in the family who worked in the textile industry,
-
80% want to know who and how their clothes are made,
-
60% are able to repair or modify something in their wardrobe.
This day confirmed to us that fashion in Trenčín not only has a rich past, but also a vibrant present – hidden in the memory of families, in craft skills, and in public interest. We feel a strong impulse to continue – with trust in the fact that people want to understand again, create, repair, and be part of something meaningful.
The project LUMó – Laboratory of Sustainable Fashion is officially launched. Thank you to everyone who was there.
