Guided tour of the exhibition Enchanted Bratislava

We invite you to a guided tour and the opening of the exhibition ENCHANTED BRATISLAVA with the author Filip Bielek and curator Miroslava Urbanová.

The exhibition “Enchanted Bratislava” seeks to highlight the issues surrounding the understanding and formation of public space in Slovakia after 1989 — both architecturally and urbanistically. In this process, public interest often loses out to private investment interests. The reality of bizarre new developments springing up across Slovakia, and especially in our capital city, has become a kind of historical layer — formally and conceptually hollow — that raises the question: Who does public space really belong to? To all of us, or just to a select few who manipulate it at will? Who is its true master?

Photo and video documentation will be made during the event and may be published later.

Bratislava as we (don’t) know it

An exhibition that uncovers the hidden layers of our capital city and raises uncomfortable yet important questions. In his project “Enchanted Bratislava”, Filip Bielek explores how public space has changed since 1989—and for whom these changes were really made.

At the heart of the exhibition is Bratislava as a symbol of transformation, where new development projects often drown out the public interest and reshape the face of the city without a clear vision for its future. The artist invites viewers to reflect on who public space belongs to and what value it will hold for future generations.

About the exhibition

The exhibition “Enchanted Bratislava” aims to highlight the problematic understanding and shaping of public space after 1989 in our territory—both from an architectural and urbanistic perspective. In this process, public interest often loses out to private investment interests. The reality of bizarre new buildings springing up across Slovakia—most notably in our capital—has already become a kind of historical layer, formally and conceptually hollow, raising the question: Who does public space really belong to? To all of us, or only to a small group of the chosen few who manipulate it as they please? Who is its true master?

Please note: Photographs and video recordings will be taken at the event and may later be published.
